Hah! Why couldn't it have been Scalia, is my question.

Although I just read Scalia's opinion in the Hamdi case, and I have to say it was by far the best of the bunch. Absolute rejection of the Bush claim that war powers can be exercised on US citizens. Available at:

Much better than O'Connor's wishy-washy opinion, with which Souter and Ginsburg went along for the sake of a majority.
How bad must Bush & Co be when I find myself agreeing with Scalia and Bob Barr more than with the mealy-mouthed Democrats in Congress who can't bring themselves to say anything?

Stevens joining Scalia! Just imagine how bad things would have to be for those two to find common ground.

Come on, you know you're thinking it too: If Cheney had only served in the military, he might have learned how to shoot a gun "proper."

Did anybody read the news on this today? WTF, this guy is just supposed to walk around with a BB in his heart, and this is, rhetorically speaking, okay?
Peter Banko, the administrator of Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi, said that the procedure, which sends a dye into the blood vessels all the way to the heart, detected one BB size pellet in his heart that was causing his heart to quiver.
He said Mr. Whittington was in stable condition now, and alert, but that he would remain in the hospital for at least another week to make sure that pellet and any others did not continue to move to other vital organs.
But Dr. David Blanchard, the hospital's chief of emergency, said the pellet "does not appear to be mobile."

Holy moly. And apparently that bb has caused a heart attack. The headlines are so dainty, though, like this one from NYT: "Fellow Hunter Shot by Cheney Suffers Setback" WTF indeed!??
