ha! and wha? best and worst quotes about the spitzer swan dive

Spitz_2

Seth Greenland, writing for the Huffington Post: "Frankly, I am amazed he got his wife to appear with him at the news conference, given the media frenzy. If I recall, James McGreevey, the part-time homosexual former Governor of New Jersey had his wife glued to his arm when he faced the media during his excoriation. Do these guys drug their spouses? My wife would knee-cap me."

A response from Spitzer's brother Daniel Spitzer, a neurosurgeon, is quoted in the Wall Street Journal: "If men never succumbed to the attractions of women, then the human species would have died out a long time ago."

It's amazing what you'll find when searching for your former professors. Hey, Professor Hawhee, hope all is well. Please note that despite being in your Rhet. Tradition class a year ago and having already graduated, I can't call you Debbie or Debra or anything like that. I have some weird complex where I can't call former authority figures by their given names. I'd rather not go into that right now.

How can someone do such nasty things to their spouse (like using hookers for ten years) and still have their love, or at least enough love to muster public appearances? I don't think this specific show of marital solidarity is very convincing. And judging by that quote from Daniel, I wonder if hooker-love is common amongst the Spitzer boys? He sure sounds like a guy who has been smitten with a call girl or two in his life.

I thought K made a good point the other day when I was ranting about the wife-at-his-side thing too. He said, "well, yeah, I would expect *you* to kill *me* for this. But you can't assume everyone's marriage is like your own. There are all sorts of reasons someone might screw up royally (some of them pathological), and equally many why someone else might forgive-- or even know about it in the first place and tolerate it. No one can claim to truly understand a relationship from the outside."

And, yes, I just noticed that I can claim the same initials as the illustrious 4Cs. Please don't start calling me that.

Oh, and how completely absurd is it that my first thought upon seeing the photo you posted of the happy couple was how much I love her dress? LOL.

Yeah, C, I'll admit that dress is a big reason why I chose this photo to post. the little cap sleeves are great!
