"is he still on about earmarks?"
"people don't know what the Great Society is--it probably sounds pretty great to them."
"is John McCain crazy?"
"the fuck is he talking about?"
"He's lost his mind. He has seriously lost his mind."
on the running mate question: "HAHAHA. Jesus, Bob Schieffer is going for the throat."
(on Biden's coming from Scranton): "awful place. shithole. seriously."
"Doesn't McCain understand that continuing to say all the things that he's said the last few weeks isn't going to help him?"
"He seems to live in this bizarro universe that people would prefer his policies if they only got to know them."
"They should let Obama moderate these. He would ask more interesting questions."
"Where did Joe the Plumber get $250,000? That's a lot of plumbing."
"Joe the Plumber!!"
"Obama must love that McCain has tied himself to these truly awful policies."
"Joe the Plumber for supreme court!"

high-larious. Are all of those things you overheard JM saying on the couch next to you?
Does the country have a lot of sympathy for plumbers? When I owned a house my sense was generally something like, "this plumber is taking all my money." Plumbing is pretty high-paying, and it can't be outsourced. I feel like plumbers have it pretty good these days. Not as good as sinecured academics, but then again, they don't have to shovel as much shit as we do. I think a lot of people out there were thinking, "boo-hoo, poor Joe the Plumber makes so much money he's worried he'll have to pay higher taxes."
Second, if Joe the Plumber is worried about the Obama tax plan and is making more than $250K, then Joe the Plumber is clearly not a plumber: he's a guy who owns a business that employs a bunch of plumbers.
Third, McCain truly detests Obama and feels it's a huge injustice that this guy is kicking his ass in kind of historic proportions.

Z: Ha! I'm not at liberty to say, but let's just say that your first paragraph is a lot closer to my draft title.
And yeah! What is up with all that blinking? I'll tell you what: hatin'.

Joe is not a licensed plumber. Nor is his name Joe. But he does, apparently, owe some back taxes.
